Second year MHA student Meg Green, recently completed a six week internship, in the Hematology and Oncology Department within Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s (Winston-Salem, NC) Comprehensive Cancer Center. She served as the lead designer of a REDCap database that tracked patient outcomes from the new Precision Medicine program.

The program allows doctors to test the genetic makeup of patient’s tumors and target therapies to specific mutations. Meg worked with the database from inception to data collection. Furthermore, she trained a group of managers, nurses, and administrators to use the software. In addition, Meg helped implement a patient satisfaction survey within the clinic, analyzed the results, and reported her findings to the clinical manager. Meg noted, “My internship was a wonderful experience. I loved working closer to the clinical side of health administration. Seeing patients go in and out of the clinic each day was a huge motivator and it reminded me why I got into health administration!”
