Advisory Board Spotlight: Jill Davis

Jill Davis has served on the UNC Charlotte MHA Advisory Board since 2014. She works as Senior Director, Enterprise Data, at Premier, Inc. In this role, Ms. Davis leads the teams responsible for enterprise-wide data acquisition and integration to support all informatics and data analytics tools offered by her company. Ms. Davis recently marked her 24th year of service with Premier and has served in a number of roles since beginning her career in cost accounting. Prior to joining Premier, Ms. Davis held an administrative residency with HCA-North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Ms. Davis has frequently drawn on her administrative residency experience as she has taken advantage of different opportunities for growth throughout her career. She recommends that MHA students seek out variety in their internships, fellowships, and other work environments. A broad exposure to hospital departments, clinics and other professional settings will give students the flexibility to adapt to changing opportunities in the diverse and complex world of health care.

Ms. Davis has found the greatest satisfaction in her career through her connections to the people and the mission of her organization. She has heard repeatedly from her colleagues that these are the two key reasons why they came to Premier, why they stay there, and why they thrive in their work. Ms. Davis advises MHA students to seek similar connections and relationships as they enter and advance in the health care workforce.
