Biography:

Melissa Soto-Perez is originally from Trinity, North Carolina but relocated to Charlotte, NC, for her undergraduate degree. Melissa chose to attend UNC Charlotte’s MHA program due to their stellar reputation. She loved UNC Charlotte and everything Charlotte itself had to offer. There are endless opportunities within healthcare in Charlotte as there are multiple health systems that reside in the area. Melissa plans to work as a healthcare administrator with an interest in three areas which are women’s health, pediatrics, or emergency medicine. She has a strong passion and motivation to help minority populations with high health disparities as she is a first generation Latina college student herself. Melissa always knew she wanted to work in healthcare but understood that direct patient contact was not needed to influence patient care and outcomes. A role in administration would allow her to make a difference in patient care without having to be a frontline provider.
