Biography:

Sowmiya is originally from Coimbatore, India, where she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Sri Ramakrishna Dental College and Hospital. Her early clinical experiences sparked a strong interest in the administrative and systemic aspects of healthcare, inspiring her to pursue the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She was drawn to UNC Charlotte’s MHA program for its strong emphasis on leadership development, interdisciplinary learning, and community engagement in healthcare improvement. Sowmiya aims to build a career at the intersection of healthcare management and community health, focusing on enhancing access, equity, and quality of care within diverse populations. She is particularly passionate about developing initiatives that improve patient-centered care and mental health outcomes through effective organizational strategies and public health collaboration.
